It's no secret that my family doesn't like living here, it's not safe, they have cut survices and the maintainance here is a joke. In fact it's the latter that is causing the most problems for us over the last few years.
We have had shorts with the electricity, (2 now!) and they have opened up the walls to 'fix' bad pipes numerous times. It is the latter that finally made the apartments freak out at us and threaten us with eviction.
Our downstairs neighbor has been having problems with water drainage for the last three years. Twice now they have opened up the walls, taped something up then called it good. I remember the previous incident they had no choice but to call 'real plumbers' who were in awe of the shoddy work and really laid into the maintance crew right outside my window. You don't forget something like that quick.
Well it turns out they didn't dig enough becuse the neighbor is still having problems. I feel for her, I do. We have all suffered at the hands of this crew. The one time my husband didn't put away our clothes washing machines, a maintance man commented on it.
Our next lease signing two months later changed to forbid such appliances. Sure enough two weeks after signing we are threatened with eviction.
Now to give Thraxx credit he went down there and tried to be resionable, citing the many assults that have happened in our laundry faclilites (one young woman was sexually assaulted!), stolen clothing, and the honest fact that I can't carry the laundry up and down stairs. Our machines use less then five gallons a load, and we did two loads a day. But apparantly the pipes can't handle the extra 10 gallons. They made it clear, if we don't get rid of them we are out on the streets.
If we had anywhere else to be, we'd already be there. So they had to go.
This has been very stressful for everyone. Thraxx is enraged about it, I am dispondant and the minions are reacting to us because they are just kids and can't help. It's just a washer and dryer right? Why be so upset? Well it's kind of more then that. See these were tools that not only gave us some freedom, but more control over things. We didn't have to worry about what I could carry, we didn't have to pay $5 to do a single load of laundry, and basically it made our lives a bit easier and better. Heck, it was the one thing I felt I could do to contribute to housework on a regular basis. I can't do much but the laundry? I could do that.
Did I mention I am still playing for these things? Because I totally am.
These are just things, we know that and we do feel kind of silly for being this upset, but it's not really about them. It's more about the freedoms we had and the peice of mind. Losing that? yeah I think we are a bit justified for being upset.
